Cheese Cliffs
12.07.2024 21:01
The cheese cliffs, which fascinate visitors with their natural and statuesque posture, are among the points frequented by those who fall their way to Çanakkale. With its long and wide sandy beach, the cliffs adorning the Cape of Kaşkaval, which are located on the left side of Kuzu Harbour, have a grandeur that attracts all attention with its distinctive structure. The story of the ‘visual feast’ cheese cliffs in Gökçeada, Turkey's largest island, is also quite interesting.
Legend is that there is a rich and stingy woman with thousands of animals believed that she could reach heaven by placing her cheeses, which she avoided from everyone, on top of the gods. One day, the old woman's door was knocked by very hungry little child asking for cheese for herself and her brother, but the woman, mistreatingly sent the guest back. God saw the old woman mistreating the boy and condemned her to a great punishment. The woman being a stubborn and miserly who does not share all the cheese with no one is frozen with her cheese as a result of natural disasters such as snow and type.
Transportation to the rocks, where natural formations such as sun, wind and snow have a sculptural appearance, is provided by boat from the sea. It is possible to go to cheese cliffs, which is a natural miracle, in five minutes from Kuzu Harbour and in about 15 minutes from Kaleköy Harbour.
