Çoban Bey, whose tomb is in the Mollaarap district, is the son of Osman Gazi, one of the founders of the Ottoman State. Shepherd Bey conquered Bursa and then settled Turkmen groups in Bursa. Although the exact date of construction of the tomb is not known, it is said that it was built in the 14th century in some sources. Rubble stone and brick were used together in the building. The tomb, which has a square plan, is covered with a dome. The interior is illuminated by windows. There are five more sarcophagi in the mausoleum apart from the Çoban Bey sarcophagus. After the earthquakes in the 19th century, the masjid and the madrasa, like most buildings in the city, were damaged along with the tomb. In the 1970s, only the mausoleum was restored to the city with the restoration and landscaping works.
