Bursa Archaeological Museum is a modern museum where the historical values of Bursa city can be seen on an extremely large scale.
The museum in Çekirge District of Bursa was first opened in 1972 in a new building. 41 years later, when it is seen the need in line with a comprehensive arrangement, it takes its present form. Bursa Archaeological Museum, where more than 50 thousand works are exhibited which shed light on the thousands of years history of Bursa, which is located at the crossing point between the Anatolian geography and the Balkans, is striking with its wealth and diversity.
The museum was organized in 1972 as a structure consisting of four sections: prehistoric works and coins, stone works; ceramic, glass and metal works, art gallery, and it has a different order as of 2013. However, today the museum is divided into the Hall of the Miocene Period-Phrygian Kingdom, the Hall of Stone Artifacts, the Hall of the Archaic Period-Eastern Roman period and the Hall of the Three Pinar Tumulus Car Finds.
In the related halls, archaeological artifacts collected in the excavations carried out in Bursa and the surrounding area can be seen. Among these works, the prominent ones are Hittite, Urartian artifacts; pottery and idols. In addition, the Statue of Apollo, bust of Athena, coins, ornaments, architectural pieces, parts of the wheel dated to the 6th century BC, horse harnesses and chariot model can be examined.
In addition, there is a library with archival documents. The museum, which promises a unique adventure, is visited by thousands of cultural tourism enthusiasts and everyone from 7 to 70 who are interested in history in general.
