26.06.2024 14:30
The ancient city of Lyrboton Kome, which emerged after the discovery of the village with its 2,200 years of olive oil production, is opened to visitors by the Antalya-Kepez Municipality as a result of four years of excavations.
The most striking part of the ancient city of Lyrboton Kome, which was acquired to the city's culture and heritage through the cooperation of Akdeniz University and Antalya Museum, is undoubtedly the olive oil conservation storage tower. After the discovery of this ancient city, where there are temples, bazaars, historical houses, olive workplaces and many other structures, it was learned that olive was a natural plant used for fuel rather than food years ago.
The ancient city of Lyrboton Kome, located close to Antalya city center, is still undergoing restoration and excavation work. In the ancient city of Lyrboton Kome, a large olive oil production village known in history as Perge ancient city, you can see the ruins of Roman Baths, Byzantine churches, Arete Tower, civic houses and water cisterns.
Lyrboton Kome, which is the closest ancient city to the city centre, is planned to increase archaeopark arrangements and restore all historical buildings. The greatest example of this is that an ancient Roman House will be restored and opened to visitors as a ‘Museum House’. The ancient city of Lyrboton Kome, which is planned to be Turkey's first archaeopark, offers exquisite city views both at sunset and sunrise because it is in a high position. You can visit four churches and chapels, over 100 water cisterns, Roman baths, many olive oil workshops and integrated systems in the ancient city of Lyrboton Kome.
