This is a museum that has played a role in shedding light on many histories, even with its location. Elmalı Museum sheds light on history with the works it exhibits and the archaeological studies carried out in its surroundings. The Elmalı Museum exhibits artifacts unearthed from archaeological studies carried out in the settlement that has hosted many civilizations from the Neolithic period to the present day. For this reason, it perhaps has the most important place among Turkey's archaeological and historical museums. Located on İbrahim Elmalılı Street in Gündoğan Neighborhood of Antalya, the museum is built in the Old Government House. The Elmalı treasure in its collection gives its name to both the museum and the street where it is located. The Old Government House, which underwent restoration work in order to add exhibition halls, has been renovated faithfully to its original. The 11 exhibition halls here, eight of which are on the first floor and three on the ground floor, take its visitors on a journey through time, so to speak, with its extensive collection. Elmalı Museum was completed and opened to visitors in 2011 under the Antalya Museum Directorate. The museum also has a view intertwined with nature due to its garden used as an open-air gallery and its geopolitical location. The museum contains many works from the Late Chalcolithic Period to the Bronze Age, and the Elmalılar treasure from the 5th century BC is also exhibited to visitors.
