The first museum in Antalya, a cultural treasure with its thousands of years of history, was founded in 1922. The museum established at the Alaaddiin Mosque stored artifacts compiled from the city and its surroundings. The works were moved to Yivli Minaret and complex in 1934 and were opened to visitors in 1937. The collection, enriched by archaeological finds in Perge and Side, began to be seen in its present building in 1972. Finally, in 1985, its current location was further enriched with an unchanged series of works. Today, many exhibition halls, children's Section, Open-Air galleries are divided into sections in the Antalya Museum, visitors, a chronological order and thousands of artefacts on topics can examine closely, history can go on a journey. The halls in the museum are as follows: Natural History and Prehistory, small artifacts, Hall of Gods, Hall of small artifacts-2, Emperors, grave cultures, halls of mosaics and icons, coins, Ethnography halls, and finally children's section. In these halls, fossils belonging to various times, tools found in Karain Cave, examples of ceramic art dating back to the 12th century BC, statues of Gods, statuettes, vessels and vases belonging to the 2nd century BC can be examined. In addition, portrait statues unearthed from Perge excavations, two sarcophagi, The Philosophers mosaic found in Seleukeia excavation, coins dating from the 6th century BC to the present day, some gold and silver treasures unearthed in the region can be seen. The Ethnography Hall has a large collection of Seljuk and Ottoman tiles, religious artifacts, carpets and trappings that shed light on the cultural past. The museum, established in the heart of Antalya, is located on an area of more than 30 thousand square meters in Muratpaşa district.
