Alanya Archaeological Museum, which has been serving local and foreign visitors since 1967, is divided into two sections: archaeology and Ethnography. The works, which were carried through the Ankara Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in the 1960s, are largely in the collection of the museum. The works here mainly cover the Bronze Age, Lydian and Urartian periods. In later periods, the museum became richer with archaeological excavations in the area. In the archaeology section of the museum, which is divided into’ archaeology ‘and’ Ethnography', the Statue of Heracles in particular is of great interest to visitors. This sculpture is exhibited as the only one in a private room. Also in this section is a stone inscription written in Phoenician language dating to the year 625. In addition to all these, traces of archaic, Roman and Byzantine periods can be found in the museum. Glass and Mosaic finds are exhibited outside the coin collections. In the ethnography section, vessels, manuscripts, saddlebags, jewelry or objects like writing sets that convey the folkloric qualities of Alanya region are carefully presented to the visitors. It is also possible to find some tombstones belonging to the first years of the Republican period in Alanya Archaeological Museum. In the garden area of the museum, important stone works belonging to certain periods are included. The garden area was literally set up as an outdoor display area. In this section you can find ostoteks where bones and ashes are kept. Some recent renovation work has taken place at the museum. It has been transformed into a highly acclaimed museum with garden and Hall arrangements. It is possible to visit the museum between 08.30-19.30, except on Monday in summer. During winter periods, the museum's closure takes place at 17:30. Alanya Archaeological Museum has an important advantage in terms of transportation. The museum is located very close to Damlataş cave, another tourist attraction.
