Kocatepe Mosque, which was completed in the time of Turgut Özal in 1987 and is one of the most crowded mosques in Ankara, is one of the most symbolic religious places of Ankara. Ahmet Hamdi Akseki became the father of the idea in the project of this place of worship; Adnan Menderes pioneered its construction.
Unfortunately, the construction phase of the Kocatepe Mosque, which has a total area of 4,500 square meters, took 20 years due to the economic and social problems experienced in Turkey.
Kocatepe Mosque, built on an area of 4,500 square meters, is in the form of a huge complex with a conference hall, library, parking lot, business and administrative units located at the bottom. The main place of Kocatepe Mosque, which was built in accordance with the architectural style developed by Mimar Sinan, that is, the magnificence of simplicity, was built on four elephant legs. This elephant foot can actually be described as bearer big feet. In addition, the prayer hall with a central dome has four semi-domes.
During your visit to the Kocatepe Mosque, there is always the possibility of encountering a political name. In fact, this possibility is quite high. Because this place is among the mosques frequently visited by state officials.
