Atatürk Residence and Railway Museum

Atatürk Residence and Railway Museum

Atatürk Residence and Railway Museum is known as in the past name ‘Steering Building’ This building was built by the Germans in 1890 during the construction of the railway. It is also used as the headquarters of the commander-in-chief. In the last period of 1964, this historic building was converted into a museum in memory of Atatürk. The subdivision of the building is designed as a Museum of Railways and is opened to visitors quickly during the same period. Various telephone or telegraph devices used especially in the field of communication during the Ottoman period are among the most interesting works of this place. At the same time, the materials used by Atatürk in the groundbreaking ceremony of the railway line between Samsun and Çarşamba are exhibited here. You will have a chance to examine the Caged wagon that the British put into service for a period here. The Atatürk residence and Railway Museum in Ankara is an ideal museum for anyone who is particularly interested in railway transportation. The venue is today located within the Ankara Gar Complex. It is recorded as the first private museum under the control of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The eye-filling stone building, with its original lock arches, is designed to be two storeys in total. The decor in the locked arched windows is extremely simple. In spite of this, it is considered as the only ornamental element in the structure. Atatürk Residence and Railway Museum is a kind of trip to the history of the near term for visitors. After 1856, many surprises can be encountered from the rail examples used in the railway area to the shears, from the commemorative medals to the silver service plates belonging to the sleeping wagons. On the other hand, you can see that the locomotive plaques, historic tickets, seals are displayed in this museum. It is possible to visit this special museum, which still carries the spirit of the steering building, every weekday between 09:00 and 17:00.

Ankara'da bir çok kişinin varlığından habersiz olduğu harika bir demiryolu müzesidir. Hemen Ankara garı binasinin yanında olan bu bina mutlaka Ankara'ya geldiğinizde görülmeli.
