Kaya Çelebi Mosque, where classical Ottoman style meets Seljuk architecture, fascinates those who see it with its splendor of 3.5 centuries that defies time. Kaya Çelebi Bey Mosque stands out as the second monument that still stands intact even today in the ancient city part of the city. The year is 1660, the place is Van. When Kaya Çelebi Zade Koçi Bey, who ordered the construction of the work, is executed, the mosque is completed by Cem Dedemoğlu Mehmet Bey. The mosque, whose construction was completed in 1663, is named after Kaya Çelebi. The building, bearing traces of Anatolian Seljuk architecture, is completed in the classical Ottoman style. Kaya Çelebi Bey Mosque becomes the second structure that has survived for 360 years in the ancient city of Van. The work almost forms an integrity with Hüsrev Pasha Mosque located nearby. Kaya Çelebi Bey Mosque, which is still the only mosque open to worship in old Van, was repaired by the General Directorate of Foundations in 1993, faithfully. Kaya Çelebi Mosque, which gives the feeling of taking a mystical journey with Erek Mountain lying behind it, contains the most beautiful tones of cream, brown and red.
