Tannery Bridge in Ortahisar district is one of the landmark locations in Trabzon. The bridge, which dates back 2,000 years, was repaired in 1833. It is also known that changes have been made in some parts over time and additions are made. But despite all this process, it is still standing upright and greeting the residents.
Moreover, its current feature is not in the form of a visual image located at some point in the icon. Surprisingly, it's solid and open to pedestrian traffic. It is not wrong to say that the bridge, which is actively in use today as it was centuries ago, serves as an important service in the center of the city.
When examining the architectural features of the stone bridge, the fact that the round arches, safety fence, additions are carried out with great care, so that it does not affect the original. For example, the single arched bridge in the southern part has been added in the ancient times for enlargement purposes. The arches’ gaps are kept in line with each other thus it can not be ignored that the aesthetic is maintained.
The bridge, which has been repaired in recent years as part of urban renewal works, is now undertaking an important function and welcoming its visitors as a historical value.
