Eight Columned Bath
20.08.2024 18:19
The Eight-Columned Bath, which amazes those who see it with its architecture resembling an oba tent, is the footprint of the Anatolian Seljuk State in Trabzon.
In Turks, the bath house is of great importance not only because it contains the philosophy of cleaning the body, but also 'purifying the soul'. The Seljuk State, which has not achieved sufficient success in conquering the city of Trabzon, builds a bath house outside the city and in the western part that is now in the center today. The bath, which takes its name from its architectural structure, begins to be called Eight Columns.
The bath is like an oba tent from an architectural point of view. One of the most diverse architectural buildings of Trabzon, the place has been restored many times throughout its history, staying true to its original. When abandoned in 1916, The Eight-Columned Bath, which is located in the Pazar Neighborhood, is protected by the Ministry of Culture and Trabzon Municipality and is repaired by staying true to the original. Today, the bath house with a capacity of 35 people with coldn, hot and relaxation rooms is frequented by thousands of local and foreign tourists every year.
