The mosque, which was built by Erdoğdu Bey in 1557 at the behest of the Sultan, is located in Erdoğdu Neighborhood, which also gets it’s name from Erdoğdu Bey. The inscription on the altar of the historical building, which has been repaired many times, is said to have been restored in 1899-1900.
Erdoğdu Bey Mosque was created in three sections: harim, the last community place and the women's mahfil. Circular stone stairs are climbed at the entrance of the mosque, which is built in rectangular form in the east west direction. The entrance door is wood and biplane. Cutstone and rough freestone materials were used throughout the mosque. The historic mosque, built with masonry construction system, is located in the courtyard and there is a round arch at the door opening of the courtyard. The lower-row windows on the facades of Erdoğdu Bey Mosque are rectangular, while the upper rows are round arched. All facades of the structure have double rows of windows.
Indoors, the walls are plastered and painted white. There is no decoration on the walls and the interior design is completely simple. Women's mahfili is reached by a one-armed staircase next to the entrance. The internal upper cover of the structure is a flat ceiling and is made of wood material. The outer top cover of the structure is the hipped roof in four directions. Material choice for the roof is Alaturka tiles. Erdoğdu Bey Mosque, which is even mentioned in Evliya Çelebi's Travels, is located in the Zaviyeli Mosques group, which creates a separate type of plan in Ottoman architecture.
