Welcoming its guests with its rich collection from the Neolithic Age to the present day, Eregli Museum takes its visitors on a time journey with 8 thousand 96 works.
Eregli district and its surroundings of Konya are one of the most important places that shed light on the historical process in Anatolian territory. The museum, which stands out in view of richness of the work and the culture of civilization in the past period, is a gateway to the past.
Opened in 1968, the Eregli Museum consists of two different sections as ethnography and archaeology. The artifacts in the archaeological hall, consisting of nearly 500 works, are lined up in chronological order. It is also possible to find statues and figures of the Hellenistic Period and Roman Period in the archaeological section, where many works from the Neolithic period to the Late Hittite period are exhibited.
The most interesting work of the Eregli Museum is a mammoth fossil. The mammoth fossil, which was found by chance by attaching to the earth mover in the work of the sand pits zengen town, is one of the works where visitors are most attracted to it. The ethnography part of the museum includes local clothes, copper plates, a manuscript, a Quran and jewelry.
The museum's garden is also used as an exhibition space. This garden, which is home to many Roman and Hellenistic Period tombstones, including the Anatolian Seljuk State, is a kind of open-air museum.
