17.06.2024 00:23
Penbe (Balkapanı) Inn was ordered to build by Beyazıt II, Ottoman Sultan, in 1481 and took 31 years to complete. The completion of the inn, which still bears traces of Ottoman architecture, continued until 1512.
Kastamonu is also famous for its inns... In this geography of centuries-defying inns, Penbe (Balkapani) Inn is located next to the western adjoining of Kurşunlu Inn. The inn, which was once recognized as the center of honey trade, is also known as the 'Balkapan'. In the following period, it became the center of the cotton trade’s heart. This is how it begins to get famous because the cotton is called 'Penbe' in Persian.
Penbe (Balkapanı) Inn, who was left in ruins for many years, was left to himself because of the fire disaster years ago. Penbe (Balkapanı) Inn, who only survives the north gate after centuries, is finally restored... The inn, which was renovated by the Regional Directorate of Foundations in 2006, is now used as a restaurant and bazaar.
