Kerim Pasha Bastion, one of the most important military headquarters in Kars a frontier city of bastions and castles, has maintained all its majesty since 1854. Kars is a city that has been attacked many times because of its geopolitical position and is home to countless civilizations and cultures. Kars, including the Ancient City of Ani, which proved itself in trade even hundreds of years ago with its route through the Silk Road, is another important feature of Kars. Bastion, built by Kerim Pasha in 1854 and named after him, is one of the most important headquarters of the soldiers for the ottoman defense. The northern façade, which is limited in the Dereiçi region where the Kars River flows and has its entrance here, is one of the most beautiful examples of the military architecture of the period with its horse shoe shape. Kerim Pasha Bastion, which is surrounded by earth emplacement, is one of the rare places to explain to those who see the crescent-shaped barracks building in the defense of these lands. The fact that Kerim Pasha Bastion building is a properly cut basalt stone has ensured that it has survived its robustness to this day. Located to the east of Kars Castle, this Bastion is the closest to the castle to protect its east side.
