Mevlana Statue

The Buca district of Izmir is home to the magnificent Mevlana Celaletini Rumi statue. Mevlana Celaletini Rumi was an important poet, scholar, theologian and sufi who lived between 1207-1273. His poems have been published in many languages. He is cited as one of the most widely recognized Muslim poets in the United States today. Mesnevi, which he penned in Konya, is among the prominent poems in the Persian language. The memory of Mevlana, an important personality who crossed continents, is kept alive with statues and cultural houses in many cities on the borders of Turkey.
