The Ottoman heirloom Yıldız Clock Tower is located in the borough of Beşiktaş district in Istanbul, from where it takes its name. It is also in the southwest corner of the courtyard of the Yıldız mosque. It is also known as the 'Hamidiye Clock Tower'. It was built by Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamit II between 1889 and 1890 who was known for his interest in clocks besides his craftsmanship in carpentry.
Rising on an octagonal plan in Ottoman and neogothic style, the three-story Yıldız Clock Tower is accompanied by a cusped dome. On the first floor of the tower, there is a barometer in the lower part of the narrowed facade, where there are four inscriptions, and there is a window there-above with an Orientalist character.
You can relieve the fatigue of the day in Yıldız Park after visiting Yıldız Palace, where you can access when you follow Barbaros Boulevard by giving your back to the Bosphorus.
