Yeraltı Mosque that is located near Karaköy Ferry Pier on the banks of the Golden Horn, within the borders of the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, has spiritual significance. This mosque hosts the mausoleums of the Commanders Amr bin el-As, Vehb B. and Süfyan B. Uyeyne who were martyrized during the Arab incursions on Istanbul in the 18th century . The cists of Muslim commanders, which have spiritual significance and are surrounded by iron bars, are at the end of a dim prayer place supported by columns.

The first building, known to have been built against Arab incursions into the city and dated to the 6th century, served as a warehouse and cistern with the conquest of the city by the Ottomans after being used as a fortress for centuries. After then it was converted into a mausoleum and mosque.
Yeraltı mosque, also known as the ‘Kurşunlu Mahzen’ in Ottoman times, is one of the prominent religious structures of the city.
