In the heart of Istanbul's Besiktas district, next to the Sea of Marmara, the historic Sinan Paşa Mosque welcomes its visitors... It was built by the Ottoman Navy Capitan Pasha, that is Chief Admiral Sinan Paşa, who also gave his name to the district in which it is located. Since the construction of the mosque was not completed when he died in 1553, Sinan Paşa's grave is in the burial area reserved for special people in another mosque in Üsküdar. The date of completion of the mosque is recorded as 1555.
This building is one of the works of Architect Sinan. Its central dome, its columns positioned in six different parts along the arches, and a total of four small domes are notable. Sultan's Mahfil that is the platform where Sultan performs prayer could not survive until the present. It has one minaret.
Interior decorations are eye-catching. The narthex, that is, the Covered Part between the mosque and the courtyard, is surrounded by the madrasah section. Its fountain, which stands out with its columns, has survived very well to the present day and indicates 16th-century Ottoman fine workmanship.
It is at an extremely central point where you can see mostly young people. Pedestrian traffic around it is quite intense. The approximately 450-year-old Sinan Paşa Mosque, which is open to worship, is among the most important works that add value to the skyline of Beşiktaş.
