Sinan Erdem Sports Hall, one of the most important sports facilities in Istanbul, is located in Bakırköy district on the European side of the city. Located in a very central location, the sports hall is very close to E5 Highway and public transport stations.
It takes its name from Sinan Erdem, a distinguished sportsman who has served as president of the Turkish National Olympic Committee for many years. Sinan Erdem Sports Hall, construction of which began in the early 1990s, was completed on April 23, 2010, after many years of construction.
Built on a total area of 73,400 square meters, and the indoor area is 40,000 square meters. It is a complete sports hall with NBA standard parquet floors, rest units, all technological facilities, athlete locker rooms, fitness center, referee-observer rooms, VIP suites, and other sections under a steel roof.
It is the largest sports hall in Turkey. It is also one of the largest and most modern sports halls in Europe. It attracts attention with its seating capacity of 16,500 people for sports events. It also offers a total capacity of 22,500 people for concerts and events. This sports hall has been the scene of several international sporting events, such as the 2017 EuroLeague foursome final, and is actively used especially for local basketball competitions.
