One of the symbols of Maçka, one of the historical districts between Şişli and Beşiktaş on the European side of Istanbul, is undoubtedly the police station. Maçka Police Station (Maçka Barracks) is located on the street between İTÜ Maçka Campus and Maçka Democracy Park.

Simon Balyan and Sarkis Balyan are the architects of the Maçka Police Station built in 1862. The prominent names of Balyan family, who have built many structures, built Maçka Police Station in the western style. It welcomes you with long columns before the entrance referring to the ancient period. It has survived up to the present day with a very good preservation.

The building used by Istanbul Technical University today served as Maçka Gendarmerie Station between 1930-1956. Maçka Gendarmerie Station, which has been given an educational function in various ways after 1956, draws attention with its dazzling architecture that contributes significantly to the sophisticated silhouette of the region.

Although it is no longer used as a police station, Maçka Police Station known by this name resembles a palace with its elegance and unique details. The fine workmanship and decorations are striking in the building that stands out with its details.
