Sirkeci Station, which is the first place that comes to mind when it comes to railway transportation in Istanbul and is used by passengers getting off the underground Marmaray line, also hosts the Istanbul Railway Museum, where more than 300 cultural assets are exhibited.
The museum, which was opened in the district of Fatih in 2005, consists of the goods used in trains, antique dinner sets, some equipment used in trains, various medals, old passenger tickets as well as train models in working condition.
The museum attracts attention with memories from the Orient Express line. The suburban train driver section at the entrance of the Istanbul Railway Museum, where foreign tourists show great interest, can be explored from outside.
The museum, which draws attention with its small and modest entrance door, essentially has a large area. It can be visited free of charge every day, except Sunday, Monday, and holidays.
