The wife of Sultan Ibrahim Khan and the mother of Sultan Mehmed IV...
Hatice Turhan Valide Sultan Fountain, which is shown among the distinguished fountains of Istanbul, is a place worth seeing in many ways. The historical structure, which is known as both a fountain and a fountain, was built by Hatice Turhan Sultan as a part of the Yeni Valide Mosque at the intersection of Eminönü Hamidiye Street and Yalı Köşkü Street in 1663 by Mimarbaşı Bekir Ağa. There are various stories about the construction of the fountain. According to belief, in 1597, Safiye Sultan, the mother of Mehmet III, invited Mimar Davut Ağa to her presence. She told him to build a social complex in her name in the Eminönü region. Mahmut Davut Ağa took action to fulfill this order; however, he lost his life a short time later. Later, the same task was given to Mimar Ahmet Ağa.
The fountain and the fountain, which do not have running water today, are side by side under a wide eave. The fountain consists of three windows decorated with networks made of cast iron separated by four marble columns, each with seven places for water to be given. There is a pointed arch made of colored stones above the windows. The inside of the arch and the spaces between them are filled with relief decorations. There is an inscription on the top part.
The interior of the fountain is decorated with tiles, while the fountain is made of marble in the classical style. Here, there are the same relief decorations inside the pointed arch and in the corner spaces, and an inscription above it. A wide cornice with stalactites runs along the fountain and the fountain under the eaves.
The fountain and the fountain were completely burned down in 1902 as a result of a fire that broke out in a store between them, which was the old post office and is now Türkiye İş Bankası, and they were restored in accordance with their old architecture under the leadership of Osman Hamdi Bey, a valuable name in the field of museums.
