Tomb of The Prophet Pirsefa and The Prophet of Yusha

The Tomb of the Prophet Pirsefa and the Prophet Yusha is among the most important and most visited religious sites in Gaziantep. The Tomb of the Prophet Pirsefa and the Prophet Yusha, where local visitors are attracted, is located on Pirsefa Street in the Boyacı neighborhood. In this special place, which is intertwined with the Coppersmiths Bazaar, The Prophet Pirsefa and the Prophet Yusha lie. According to the belief, Pirsefa, is the tomb keeper of Yusha, and when he dies, he is immediately buried here. According to another belief, Pirsefa is of Medina origin. When Gaziantep was conquered by the Muslims, he was martyred. In that fight, his body is cut in half as a result of a sword blow. The Prophet Yusha is a descendant of the Children of Israel. He is also the nephew of the Prophet Moses. The Prophet Yusha manages to save the Israelites from nomadic life. A total of two shrines stand side by side within the single-floor building. Those who come to the shrine have the chance to visit both His Holiness Pirsefa and the Prophet Yusha. Both persons stand in a very special place in the spiritual sense for Gaziantep city. Those who come to the shrine pray for their wishes to be granted. The Tomb of the Prophet Pirsefa and the Prophet of Yusha is located on a land of batter. A small staircase leads down to the shrine. Just at the top of these stairs, there are two rooms with shrines. On the left is the Tomb of the Prophet Pirsefa and on the right is the Tomb of the Prophet Yusha are located. This part is converted into a masjid thanks to the mihrab added later. The upper part of the masjid has large windows. That way it always gets light in there. The Tomb of the Prophet Pirsefa and the Prophet Yusha is covered with a dome. Very close to the tomb, there are the tobacco Inn, The Grand Mosque, Gaziantep Mevlevihanesi and The New Inn.
