Hivşa Khan, located in Gaziantep, is sometimes referred as ‘Lala Mustafa Paşa Khan’. There is no inscription proving exactly when and by whom the inn was built, but based on the court records of that period, it is concluded that this place was built by Lala Mustafa Pasha.
This special Inn, uncovered in the 16th century, is evaluated in the category of single-storey inns. During the time of Hışva Khan, Lala Mustafa Pasha was in Damascus for the mission. This is the oldest inn in Gaziantep. Of course, that's not the only reason the Inn gets so much attention.
Cut stones are used in the construction process of Hışva Khan. The venue is located on the outskirts of Gaziantep Castle. It has a simple style in general. This is especially reflected in their ornamental styles. Black and white stones attract attention in the door section. Located on the Cultural Road, the inn was recently restored by Gaziantep Municipality. After the restoration process, it opens again in 2016.
Hışva Khan is awarded a special award in the field of architecture in 2014. Although many changes were made during the restoration process, the original texture and atmosphere of the place are preserved to a great extent. Evliya Çelebi mentions this hand in detail in his travelogue. The inn, which once had a very important place in commercial terms, is now seen more as a place that adds value to the city's tourism. The presence of various shops and restaurants in the inn keeps this place alive at all times.
The Hisva Khan, which is open to both the use and the visit of local and foreign tourists, is a very unique inn. The courtyard part, which hosts many events, especially the summer cinema and low comedy, is also actively evaluated. The inn, which is used today in the logic of a boutique hotel, is of great interest.
