One of the symbols of Erzurum, Stone Warehouses is located in the Yeni Kapi district of the city. Although the date of construction is not known, it is estimated that it was built between 1860 and 1870 by Phosphor Mustafa Pasha, who served as commander of the Ottoman Empire.
Rectangular planned Stone Warehouses, which are currently in use as a supply tank, are measuring 175 meters long and 40 meters wide. There are 22 windows on the long edges and 6 windows on the short edges. The indoor and facades are thus kept as bright as possible with plenty of windows. Meanwhile, the round arches in their windows, some of which are thinly designed stays outside, stand out.
The use of smooth cutting stone throughout the structure stands out. Dark stones contribute to the visual depth of the structure. The building, which has three doors, each entering with its round arches and looking quite sophisticated, also has a mansion area with There are small rooms near by the doors all in their glory, even after 1.5 centuries. It's amazing.
One of Erzurum's intriguing storical buildings and used as a supply warehouse today, just as it is of its origins, Stone Warehouses are among the architectural values that complement the skyline of the city.
