Erzurum, the pearl of the east dominated not only by the Ottoman Empire, but also by a wide variety of nations and nations, was taken into consideration in the ancient times of history; religious cultural, social and commercial structures are in the center of attention of local and foreign tourists.
In this context, walking with its clean nature, the Sheikhs Mosque , located in the Yakutiye district of Erzurum, which gives a sense of history in history and offers all its glory of Ottoman architecture, has been illuminating the city for hundreds of years.
In 1767 a mosque was built , in a place inwhich there was the prayer room with wooden minaret, built in 1720,by Erzurum’s Mufti Hatip Mehmet Efendi ,The sheikh mosque, consisting of the last congregation place with three part and interior covered with a single dome , is restored and preserved by staying connected to Ottoman Period architecture and retains its presence to this day.
On the other hand, in 1771, it is known by Fehim Efendi, the son of St. Ibrahim Hakkı, that a sun clock was built on the pedestal on the one balcony minaret on the right side of the mosque in order to reveal the prayer times. The mosque, which is open to worship and visit, is met with great interest by tourists from Turkey and abroad.
The mosque, built in a complex with a madrasah, inn, bath, shrine and fountain next to it, is located in the city center, in the neighborhood of which it calls its own name.
