Erzurum Kazim Karabekir Stadium, where the football club known as 'Dadaslar' and The Metropolitan Municipality Erzurumspor matches are hold, is also among the city's landmarklocations.
Erzurum Kazim Karabekir Stadium, which stands out as one of the largest stadiums in the east of Turkey, has a rectangular plan. The 105-meter-long, 68 meters of natural grass surrounds the area with a capacity of 25 thousand people, as well as sections such as buffet and WC.
The stadium, which was recorded in meeting the FIFA criteria, began to serve under the name of Erzurum Kazim Karabekir Stadium as part of the renovation project completed in 2010 after names such as Cemal Gürsel Stadium and Yeni Erzurum Stadium as of 1968, when it was first built. In this process, the previously open goal was closed in cold and rainy weather in order to increase the comfort of spectators. Located close to the city centre, the stadium also has large-capacity parking areas.
The opening/closing ceremonies of the Intercollegiate Winter Olympics in 2011, which have attracted a lot of international attention, and been host to the Turkish Super Cup final in 2012, are the leading attractions in the city's sports field.
