In the east of Turkey the treasures that the time carries from the past to the present our unique, in Erzurum. Alongside the countless cities where most structures have somehow disappeared and damaged, traces of Erzurum's ancient heritage can be witnessed all over the city. One of these legacies is the Shepherdgrandsire Bridge on the Silk Road, which is one of the most important trade routes for its period. It is known that the historical bridge, which has passed over by the Merchant and the caravans was built by Gazan Khan, who assumed the role of queen-in-chief, the right-hand man of the ruler, in the Ilhanlı State on this land. Shepherdgrandsire Bridge, which was completed in 1298, stands out with its design and decorations. The bridge over the Aras River has a total length of 128 meters. The arch sections with the highest point of 30 meters, has different colors, such as black and red, stand out aesthetic properties. The structure, which is now of protection status, is therefore not be in used. The bridge, which underwent extensive repairs every 100 years after the 17th century, was last renovated in 2011. Shepherdgrandsire Bridge stands in Erzurum, accompanied by a stunning visuality even centuries later.
