28.07.2024 09:07
Dyehouse Mosque and Bath, in Yakutiye district of Erzurum, one of Anatolia's historical cities, are among the locations that need to be seen and experienced. The mosque is also located close to the Yakutiye Madrasah. It is known that it was built by the Governor of Erzurum in the 16th century.
When its structural features are examined, it is seen that it has a square plan and has eight pulles carrying a single dome. The very short minaret with knitting motifs and green glazes stands out. It's a relatively simple structure of mosque.
The bath house of the same name was built about 60 years before the mosque. It is one of the first examples of baths in Erzurum, which has a very important place in Turkish culture. The inscription indicates that the date of construction is 1567.
The person who built it, was Haji Emin Pasha, the Sheikh of Medina Harem at the time. As an interesting detail, Haji Emin Pasha is also a relative of former Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit, who has died in recent years.
The two-part bath, with undressing and warmness, attracts attention with its three-domed and pointed arched door. There are separate sections for men and women. Dyehouse Bath, which promises a historical and authentic atmosphere, is waiting for all its visitors from 7 to 70 with its both hygiene and cleanliness and stress-reducing features.
