Edirne, the westernmost part of Turkey, was one of the cities that marked the last period of the Ottoman Empire. A large number of military structures called tabya were built in Erzurum in the east and Edirne in the west to defend against the Russians who pursued an expansionist policy. Among these, the Hıdırlık Bastion, which is among the most important military place and protection zone of Edirne, was also built. Bastion, which stands out with its atmospheric features, evokes the feeling of a spiritual treasure in its visitors. This military structure, in extremely good condition, was established before the Ottoman-Russian war of 1877-1878. In addition to the war in question, it was also used actively in the bloody Balkan wars of the early 20th century. Hıdırlık Tabyası, the largest bastion in Edirne, was home to many artillery batteries, ditches, wards and various weapons. The building, which is used as headquarters, is also at the highest point of the city within the boundaries of Hıdırlık District. The location on a hill that dominates the area is also still remarkable for its elegant landscape. There are also green areas where you can sit and relax in the Hidirlik Tabyası, where transportation is possible by services departing from Hıdırlık District, in addition to private vehicles.
