Yıldırım Beyazıt mosque is located in Bursa City and is located in Yıldırım Complex. Built by Yıldırım Beyazıt, who personally gave the mosque its name, the place has a rich stonework. The mosque generally has an inverted t plan. It is possible to compare this plan with many mosques in Bursa. Despite this, it stands in a special place in terms of authenticity among the reverse t-planned mosques. Bursa type arches are given weight in decorations. These arches are used at the point of separating the domes. There are two separate rooms at the side of the entrance hall. It is possible to enter these rooms from outside. Two domes standing back-to-back in the middle section draw attention. Small rooms with small windows are also in this section.
The building, which consists largely of cut stones, is generally spacious and high. It is seen that the prayer section is higher than the iwan in the side section. There are domes sitting on an eight-pointed floor above the iwan sections. In this part the pointed vaults attract immediate attention. Green colored marble columns are used at the corner ends of the mosque. A total of five separate domes are located above the portico area. Written sources indicate that Yildirim Beyazit Mosque was built before the 14th century. Since it does not have an inscription, this estimate is made only by reference to various architecture. This mosque is the first time that the entrance to the monument, where cut stones are preferred.
Yildirim Beyazit Mosque is severely damaged in certain periods due to both AFER and earthquakes. However, every time the necessary repair work is done and it is re-opened to worship.
