Misi Village

Misi Village, located in the city of Bursa, stands out with its 2 thousand year history. The village, located in the borders of Nilüfer district, is a favorite of local visitors. Both the fact that the village is a very old settlement and the fact that it is home to important natural beauties is considered as the main reasons for this interest.

The first known name of the village is ‘Mysia’. Towards the end of the 2nd century BC, a monk settled in Inkaya village with Misi Village. Those who considered themselves the pioneers of Christians began to settle in these villages at that time. In today's ruins, a copy of the Bible is thought to have been buried, especially at points close to the monastery. The presence of the relics makes the village even more special to Christians. Therefore, foreign visitors to Bursa prefer to visit the village because of this special situation.

Misi Village, which is about 13 kilometers from Bursa city center, is more famous for its wine and muscat grapes. The famous Misi wines belong exactly to this region. What makes these wines privileged is, presumably, the grape of muscat. Very tasty molasses are also made with these grapes. Winemaking is a very ancient culture in the region.

Besides winemaking, silkworms have an important place among the economic resources of the village. Sericulture is already a special branch for the city of Bursa in general. Another important issue in Misi Village is the houses which have their own unique architecture. Many of the houses are designed to suit sericulture. The village was declared an urban site about 30 years ago. Many restoration works were carried out at short intervals. After the restorations, some of the buildings here were converted into social facilities.
