Karabaş-ı Veli Dervish Lodge, one of the characteristic Ottoman structures in the Osmangazi District of Bursa, was founded by Yakup Çelebi in the 16th century. The source of his name is the same person's book called Tecvid-i Karabaş.
The historical dervish lodge is also active today; there are usually sema shows in the evenings dedicated to Mevlevi culture and free drinks are offered. It's almost like visitors are given an authentic atmosphere of centuries ago.
A variety of events related to traditional culture, such as poetry night and Ney concert, are also organized as part of the monthly programmes. Training programs are also being carried out. The programs are prepared in cooperation with the Mevlana Culture Promotion and survival Association and the General Directorate of Property Foundations. The rectangular plan of Karabaş-ı Veli Dervish Lodge, whose restoration work was completed in 2005, is famous for its dome, which attracts attention with its fine woodwork. Based on a total area of 720 square meters, lodge’s garden area of 380 square meters, 110 square meters constitute the joint building. The exterior features have two smaller sections totaling 230 square meters.
