The Press Culture Palace, located in the Ataevler quarter in the Nilüfer District of Bursa, houses a special museum under the name of ‘Press Museum’. In the museum, which was opened to visit in 2007, it is possible to witness the path that Bursa has taken in both printing and press areas in the historical process.
The Press Museum, which is used as material for various media organs, especially newspapers, reveals the entire development process from the first time the technological devices in the printing field were produced to their present versions. On the other hand, many concerts or conferences are held at the Bursa Press Museum throughout the year. The museum also has a large library hall. The Bursa Society of Journalists has a very important role in bringing the museum to the city.
Bursa Press Museum can be visited free of charge during the week. The time interval between which the museum can be visited is between 10:00 and 17:00. The materials belonging to Hüdavendigar, which is known as the first local newspaper of Bursa, are of great interest within the museum. Both examples from the period when the newspaper was first published and materials from the printing process can be exciting for visitors.
Bursa City shows a great outlet in the media area especially after the 1970s. The Press Museum, which is highly acclaimed for being a thematic museum, is also inspiring resource for young journalists. Students visit the museum in groups during certain periods. As Bursa is one of the largest cities in Turkey, it has made significant progress not only in the field of newspapers but also in areas such as magazines, radio and television. If you are going to create an excursion program when you come to Bursa, you must include the Bursa Press Museum as well as the historical mosques, madrasas and baths.
