Ayvaini Cave is one of the most attractive natural beauties of Bursa. The most important feature of this place is that it is known as the sixth longest cave in Turkey.
You can visit this special cave by reaching Ayva Village which is also very close to Uluabat Lake. The fact that there are many beauties around the cave, especially Uluabat Lake, makes this place much more privileged. When you come here, you will have the chance to see the villages called Kazanpınar and Doğanalan besides the village of Ayva. The region also has the longest underground passage of the Southern Marmara.
Research indicates that the Ayvaini Cave was formed during the Mesozoic Era. Despite this, the cave can only be discovered in 1970. A Spanish team arriving in the area discovers the cave by chance. The cave is hydrologically active today.
Underground water emerges from the mouth of the structure. The total length of the cave is found to be around 5.5 kilometers. It is possible to find ponds with an average depth of 4 meters in the area. The ponds cover an area of 400 meters. The level of water varies depending on seasonal reasons. Ayvaini Cave is largely covered with stalactites or stalagmites. In recent times, especially climbers or adventure lovers flock to the region. This ancient cave has an extremely mysterious and exciting atmosphere and is also home to many interesting species of animals. These include bats, snakes, water shrimps and centipedes.
Those who come from the Izmir road can reach the cave by following the signs after Başköy Junction. Along the way, you will be accompanied by unique view of Gölyaz. Due to the increase in water during the spring period, no passes to the cave are allowed. Some footpaths leading to the cave are at an extremely high point. This can negatively affect those who have a fear of heights.
