The Sarıkadı mosque is a characteristic and interesting Ottoman structure located in the Hamamönü District of Altindag, one of the famous districts of Ankara with its historical past, under the entourage of an outdoor museum. The mudbrick-walled mosque, which has survived with traces of its architectural identity, stands out with its tile-covered wooden roof supported by four columns decorated with geometric shapes that defy centuries.
The minaret of the Sarıkadı Mosque, which is very valuable in its decorations throughout the mosque, including its pulpit made of carved wood where the imam read the sermon, does not exist. When entering the interior of the mosque, the word-I Tawhid (Islamic confession of faith) inscription on the upper parts of the Windows is visible. There is a small cemetery in the eastern part of the Sarıkadı Mosque, which can be visited and worshipped. The fine workmanship of the tombstones’ quilted turbans here astounds the beholders when taken into consideration the period they were made .
Sarikadi Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Ankara with its rich historical texture around it, invites its visitors by waiting and serving with all its simplicity.
