Ankara, which is always at the forefront in terms of historical and cultural places, embraces many civilizations in history. This allows many works to be carried from madrasa to mosque and from bath to church in the city to the present day. In Ankara, the first and only capital of the Republic period, mosques have a unique architectural structure. It is possible to encounter historical mosques in many districts, especially Altindag in Ankara. Many prayer rooms and mosques in Ankara, where the call to prayer has not decreased for centuries, still stand as they did the first day. Eskicioğlu Mosque, one of the important historical mosques of the city, preferred adobe fill material between wooden skeletons. The Eskicioğlu Mosque, covered with a roof, has a rectangular plan. The final parish section was later incorporated.
The mosque has a rather elegant wooden minaret. The harim(sanctuary) at the north end is entered through a simple and unpretentious gate. The sanctuary is illuminated by 11 separate windows in total. Some windows are round-arched. The sanctuary has a wooden ceiling. A similar situation occurs in the women's enclosure. The pulpit section is considered new compared to other sections. Molding technique is used in the altar which is oil painted. The columns at the corners of this mihrab have the title muqarnas. Visitors to the mosque pay special attention to the mihrab section. The vegetal decorations seen in very few mosques, where acanthus leaves are reflected, are quite aesthetic. According to the repair inscription at the entrance of Eskicioğlu Mosque, the place was repaired in 1907. Apart from this, repairs were carried out in 1922 and 1970.
When the general architecture of Eskicioğlu Mosque is examined, it is estimated that the structure belongs to the end of the 17th century. The Eskicioğlu Mosque, which is located within the borders of Altindag District, is still open to worship and also has a tourist value.
