Azimi (Haji Esat Efendi) Tomb

The Azimi Tomb, also known as the Hacı Esat Efendi Tomb, is located in the courtyard of the Cenab-ı Ahmet Pasha Mosque in the Altındağ district of Ankara. Brick and cut stone were used in the construction of the square-planned tomb. The roof of the tomb, which contains a single coffin, is covered with Turkish style tiles. There is also an inscription on the tomb, and according to this inscription, the date of construction of the structure is 1760. So who is Azimi? Azimizade Esat Pasha is also known as Hacı Esad Efendi. According to rumors, he was the governor of Damascus. His hometown is Konya and he served as the Hajj Emir for about 14 years. Not much is known about Azimi's life, but it is thought that he was brought to Ankara in 1757 and executed there.
