The Ethnographic Museum, opened in Ankara in 1930, is also one of the first museums in Turkey. Besides the rich art works of Anatolia, the museum has a large number of navigable halls where ethnographic (cultural) materials are exhibited. The area called ‘Hall of Honor’, where Atatürk's body was buried until 1953 before his transfer to Anıtkabir, is located at the entrance of the museum. In the clothing Hall, there are products such as Turkish folk clothing and jewelry; in the processing hall there are items such as bedspreads, socks, bath sets. Different areas such as the weaving hall where fabrics from different regions are exhibited, the civil works where striking examples of Anatolian mineworking can be seen, the writing hall, the wooden works and The Lodge Goods Hall stand out. The library and archive of the museum, which contains interesting historical items of different characteristics, such as the throne of Seljuq Sultan III. Keyhüsrev, also houses valuable artifacts. The Ethnography Museum in Altindag District, where rare works of Anatolian geography are open to visit every day within certain hours, is one of the best cultural attractions in the capital.
