Ahi Şerafettin Mausoleum, located in the Aslanhane quarter within the borders of Ankara, takes its name from the mosque located directly opposite. According to the information quoted in written sources, the mausoleum was built in 1350. In the southern section of the tomb, there is an inscription reaching to this day. In this inscription written in Arabic, the date of the construction of the tomb is inscribed. Cut stone and brick structures are used in Ahi Şerafettin Mausoleum. The upper side of the dome section is covered with a wooden roof. After the Republic, this place can be repaired properly. Umut İnci, the architect, undertakes this repair. This restoration is concluded under the control of the General Directorate of Self Foundations. In the ark belonging to Ahi Sharafettin, the artistically striking details stand out. In later years, this specially carved ark is removed to the Ethnographic Museum located in the center.
When you come to Ahi Şerafettin Mausoleum, you will encounter seven graves in total. Among these, of course, the most interesting one is the Tomb of Ahi Sharafettin, who gave the tomb its name. Besides himself, there are also names like his son Ahi Sharafettin Mehmed and his daughter Devlet Hatun. The remaining chests are reserved for the descendants of Ahi Sharafettin. The Tomb of Ahi Şerafettin has an octagonal plan as of the structure. The lower part of the tomb is square. A pointed cone covers the structure.
In the tomb, transitions are provided with niches other than corner triangles. The craftsmanship in these transitions is admirable. Some of the chests have plaster relief ornaments. In addition, two pieces of arks are given blue-colored tile coatings. Marble materials are preferred in arks belonging to the Devlet and Ayşe Hatun. The tomb of Ahi Şerafettin contains various stones. Today, only the skirt of the ark belonging to Ahi Şerafettin is found. This chest is made of walnut wood, it adds a special aesthetic.
