Selimiye Mosque, which is eye-catching in its glory, next to the Mevlana Museum; It is one of the points where the explorers who come to discover Konya do not return without stopping by. The construction of the mosque, which built by Selim II Sultan of the Ottoman Empire who was the governorship of Konya in 1558, ended in 1567. Konya Selimiye Mosque, which is one of the most beautiful examples of classical Ottoman architectural period, is likened to Fatih Mosque in Istanbul due to its basic plan. The interior is decorated with pen-making art from Uighur Turks, and has an expanded ceiling structure with a one-way half-dome. The two domed mosques are dazzling with its six columns. Columns made of red and white stone have maintained all its glory for 453 years. Muqarnas; It is an architectural decoration form of geometric shapes, which are frequently used by civilizations with the religion of Islam. Mukarnas-type decoration, which is frequently used in architectural works from Turkish states that have moved from Shamanism to Islam, is also found on the exterior of The Selimiye Mosque in Konya. The mosque, thought to be the work of Mimar Sinan, the Chief Architect of the Ottoman Empire, greets its visitors as if they had embraced them through three separate doors. In 1685 and 1816, the mosque underwent two separate restoration works according to its original. Selimiye Mosque, which is wrapped in the glory of simplicity, is one of the travel points where Konya explorers do not return without stopping.
