Burgazada, the third largest island of the Princes' Islands, continues to welcome visitors in every season with its many places to visit. With its beaches, bays, museums, streets with historical mansions, cafes and restaurants, Burgazada, which you can explore in a day, is one of the top places to getaway in Istanbul. The most beautiful periods of Burgazada are spring and summer. We can also say that they are the most crowded periods. Still, if you are one of those who want to constantly explore, travel and get to know new places, you can visit this beautiful and small island regardless of summer or winter. Here are the Burgazada travel spots where you can fit all the beauties into one day...
Sait Faik Abasıyanık Museum
The museum named after Sait Faik Abasıyanık, one of the most important writers in Turkish literature history, is the mansion where the writer lived for many years. There is a small statue of Abasıyanık in its garden. You can take a photo with the statue before entering the museum. When you enter the museum, you can see almost all the pieces of the writer's personal belongings. The museum, which contains numerous items, especially letters, notebooks, postcards and photographs belonging to Abasıyanık, is located on Çayır Street. When you go up a little from the pier, you can see the white mansion. Until recently, the museum did not charge an entrance fee. However, you can contact the museum to learn up-to-date information about the entrance fee. In addition, it is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays, but is open to visitors on other days of the week.
Kalpazankaya Restaurant
If you are one of those who visit Burgazada frequently and want to have a nice day with your friends on the weekend, you can go up to Kalpazankaya, one of the highest hills of Burgazada. The most important factor that makes this spot attractive is that it has a casual restaurant. You can have a nice meal with your loved ones accompanied by a stunning view that will relieve you of the tiredness of the whole week. It is not possible to walk to the point where the restaurant is. It is also quite difficult to rent a bike and go to Kalpazankaya because this route is too steep. You can easily reach the restaurant by renting a horse-drawn carriage. Let's not forget a small but important piece of information; make sure to make a reservation before going to Kalpazankaya Restaurant. Otherwise, you may not be able to find a place to sit and you may have to turn back.
Photo Tour on the Streets of Burgazada
One of the most enjoyable aspects of traveling in Burgazada is that historical mansions that you have never seen before will greet you. We recommend that you take a short walk to photograph the unique views offered by the historical mansions located especially on Mehtap and Gönüllü streets. While some historical buildings are hidden in lush gardens, others are waiting for you to present their beauty. You can also immortalize the daily lives of the islanders and the happiness of the island children with your photographs.
Burgazada Hagia Yani Church
The church, which was first used as the cell where the clergyman Methodius was exiled and imprisoned by Empress Theodora, was rebuilt in 1896, although it has been defeated by time. The Aya Yani Church, which has witnessed the history of the island for centuries, continues to be used by the Greek people living on the island today.
Bayraktepe
If you are on a photography tour in Burgazada, one of the first places you should go is Bayraktepe. Bayraktepe is the highest point on the island. Give yourself some time to relax and spend time with the magnificent view of Heybeliada. The Hristo Monastery is also located on the hill where green and blue come together in the same frame.
Burgazada Public Beach
Burgazada is one of the routes that those who want to swim in Istanbul flock to in the summer. Burgazada Public Beach, one of the most popular beaches, is also among the first stops. The beach, which is located close to the pier, is also called Altı Numara Beach. Although its coast is a bit rocky, you can leave the pleasure of hot days and all the tiredness of the week to this crystal clear sea. Entrance to the beach is free, but you have to pay a small amount for sun loungers and umbrellas.
Madam Martha Bay
Madam Martha Bay, one of the most beautiful spots that nature offers to people, is one of the places that should not be missed in Burgazada. Especially preferred by the young generation for camping, the bay offers the opportunity to cool off and rest in the summer heat with its beach and crystal clear sea. Entrance to Madam Martha Bay is free, but you have to pay a certain amount to rent a sunbed and umbrella. Don't forget to bring food and drinks with you before going to the bay.
